Screenloop allows you to request reference checks and background checks directly from a candidate’s profile, helping you verify candidates quickly and securely without leaving the ATS.
Reference Checks
Reference checks can be requested directly from a candidate’s profile.
Requesting a Reference Check
Open the Candidate profile.
Go to the References tab.
Click Request Reference Check (top right).
Confirm when prompted.
The request is then sent to the candidate by email.
What happens next?
The candidate will receive the following message in their inbox:
The candidate enters referee details.
By default, references are sent to 2 Managers and 1 Peer.
To change this setup (e.g. 2 Peers, 1 Manager), contact us via Intercom.Referees complete the reference checks.
You’ll be notified by email once all references are complete.
Viewing Reference Reports
Open the candidate profile.
Go to the Reference Checks tab to view the completed report.
The page provides an overview of the Overall Score, Higher and Lower Rank, breakdown of Job Skills and Core Attributes.
You can export the data to PDF (top right)
Reference Checks: IP Address Flagging
To ensure the integrity and accuracy of reference feedback, Screenloop detects when multiple reference responses are submitted from the same IP address. To view this, please click on View Status on the top right corner of the Reference Checks page.
If two or more referees complete their feedback using the same IP address:
The system will automatically flag this within the reference report.
Talent teams and Hiring Managers can clearly see which responses share the same IP.
This provides greater transparency and helps you identify potential conflicts or irregularities.
Excluding Duplicate IP Feedback
If required, you can:
Exclude feedback submitted from the same IP address with one click
Ensure only valid, independent reference responses are considered
This helps maintain accurate and trustworthy reference data while keeping the process simple and controlled.
Automating Reference Checks
If you’d like reference checks to be automatically triggered at the Offer stage, contact us via Intercom to have this enabled.
Saves time and ensures no candidate reaches offer without references.
